New Zealand Electronic Monitoring
Between 2007 and 2015, G4S provided EM Services to the New Zealand Department of Corrections for both its Home Detention and Community Detention Programmes from our Auckland based dedicated monitoring centre.
With around 4,000 offenders being monitored, New Zealand has one of the largest EM programmes in the world with one of the highest rates of EM per capita.
G4S was selected as the inaugural preferred supplier of Community Detention Services in 2007, providing equipment and daily reporting to Probation Officers who were responsible for attending to all field activity. Due to the success of the Community Detention contract, G4S was then chosen to provide a full end-to-end service between 2009 and 2015 for a home detention program including; supply of equipment, monitoring services, installation and all field responses to violations.
G4S New Zealand also monitored around 30 offenders for transdermal alcohol monitoring using SCRAMx® (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring) for the Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Court in Auckland. This included fitting of an anklet, monitoring, and responding to all equipment violations.
