Dennis Roach, Managing Director Australia New Zealand & Papua New Guinea


Dennis has almost 30 years’ experience in custodial security in both the public and private sectors. He joined G4S in 2005, initially as Director, Port Phillip Prison, responsible for the overall management of the then 823 bed maximum security prison. In recent years his broad range of knowledge and in-depth understanding of governance requirements across the corrections and justice system saw him promoted within G4S to Managing Director, Care and Justice Australia and New Zealand. More recently he has taken on the responsibility of leading the whole of G4S operations in the sub region as Managing Director Australia New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

He is passionate about introducing programs to help assist rehabilitation and reduce recidivism and has been a strong advocate to correctional customers in support of the innovative reintegration focussed programs now available at both the Australian prisons run by G4S.

Dennis has a Bachelor of Arts (Criminology) and is a member of the Monash University Criminal Justice Research Advisory Committee.

Rachel Owens, Director Strategy & Business Operations


Rachel has most recently been appointed as the Director of Strategy and Business Operations and is responsible for the Continuous Improvement of Care and Justice services and leads the identification and development of business / market opportunities primarily within the Care and Justice sector within Australia and New Zealand. In addition to her Care and Justice portfolio, Rachel has assumed responsibility for various functional areas within the business as well as a high level management oversight of the Secure Solutions business.

Rachel has been with G4S since late 2007 in business development for G4S Care and Justice Services in the UK. Within Business Development she has worked on a range of projects within the Care and Justice Sector including Court Services, Immigration, Police Support Services, Work Programmes and Prison

David Owen, Director Care & Justice, Eastern Region


Dave has been with G4S UK since 2005, most recently as Director G4S Policing Services, and as such responsible for the highly successful delivery of outsourced services to Lincolnshire Police. His many year’s experience in management roles in the military, policing and Care and Justice in the UK and his commercial environment knowledge will be invaluable in assisting our growth strategy in both the traditional custodial sector and Police Support Services across Australia.

Brett McMerrin, Director Care & Justice, Western Region


Brett has extensive experience as a Senior Executive within Government and private corrections sectors. He has been an instrumental lead within organisations at times of transformational change and of challenging political, community and media scrutiny and exposure.He has been involved at a senior level within the corrections field  in large scale organisational change programmes that resulted in high performing, innovative, contemporary and cost effective services.

At a senior level he has worked in regional and metropolitan areas on a range of criminal justice issues such as ; developing youth justice strategies, adult custodial projects, cultural and organisational change initiatives. His breadth of experience and ability to work at the highest levels in government and the private sector means his opinions and advice have influence and are well regarded.

Andrew Dewsnap, Regional General Legal Counsel & Company Secretary


Andrew is the G4S General Counsel for Australia, NZ & PNG. He works closely with Directors and contract/operations managers and has overall responsibility for providing legal advice and assistance. Andrew is also the G4S Company Secretary for operating companies in Australia & NZ.

Prior to joining G4S Andrew worked in private practice and had senior roles at large law firms in London, Singapore and Melbourne in a career spanning 20 years. During that time he advised on a wide range of contracts and transactions including: infrastructure investments, public private partnerships, government outsourcing contracts, joint ventures and acquisitions.

Andrew has also spent time on secondment working in the Corrections Victoria contract administration unit.

Shane Day, Human Resources Director


Shane has 25 years’ experience in leading Human Resources Functions in manufacturing, chemicals, supply chain, labour hire, recruitment and associated industries.  In a career spanning across Australia and New Zealand, Shane has delivered as a strategic change manager specialising in organisational design, Strategy Development, Functional Leadership and Employee Development.

As a highly effective global Human Resources Executive with a strong business focus, he thrives on challenge and effectively leverages, inspires and engages teams to deliver value to organisations through employee development & engagement, performance management, safety, continuous improvement, and talent management.
